It Is Well With My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blessed assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Lord, I am far too richly blessed to be anything short of content and thankful. Forgive me for my failures in this regard and please continue to work on me. Thank you for the ability to even praise your name. You are far too good to me. Thank you. Amen.

    Well, that puts things into perspective, doesn’t it? It doesn’t really matter what’s “wrong” as long as it is well with our souls.

    Somehow I knew you would be the first to comment.

  3. Laurie M. says:

    I’m not sure how I’m supposed to take that!

    After making that comment I realized how rude it comes across. I only meant that you’ve been the not-so-subtle one who wanted me to get back to my blog. Well, you and Aaron.
